Illustrations: Grannie Annie, Vol. 5

Note: The Grannie Annie published student-illustrated paperback books annually for its first fifteen years.

Each spring, after selecting the Grannie Annie stories that will be published, the next challenge begins: selection of the art to be published. The Grannie Annie illustration judges seriously and joyfully consider each piece of art that was submitted by students from St. Louis–area schools, in addition to the art that arrived earlier along with the story submissions. We are pleased to present here the art that is published in Grannie Annie, Vol. 5.

What does a Grannie Annie illustration judge look for? A strong story illustration captures details of the story, often including the action or mood of the story — without revealing any surprises. Can you match these Grannie Annie illustrations with their Volume 5 stories? (Answers are posted at the bottom of the Volume 5 stories page.)
